One Man Band Marketing exists to help small business owners and solopreneur get clear on branding and marketing, and take action to grow their business.

It started because I knew so many super talented people running great businesses, but not getting the kinds of traffic/customers/visibility they needed. They’re acupuncturists, potters, artists, therapists, furniture makers, all of whom are incredibly good at what they do, but not marketing themselves well or at all. Most of them were just my friends or family (okay, fine. My mom was the first one: “Honey, do I need to do the Twittergram thingy to get more customers?“) and needed some direction to get their marketing in place.

Most of the time, they were just really overwhelmed because they were busy actually running the business–writing the book, making the jewelry, healing patients, sending invoices, taking out the trash, and on and on.

When it came to marketing, they felt like there were a million things they should be doing, but just didn’t have the time for it. Or didn’t know where to start.

Or both. Marketing just continually got put on the back burner.

So, I fired up a group video conference call and every Sunday, we’d talk through the basics, best practices, and I’d give them an assignment. They’d have the rest of the week to get it done, and I’d give them feedback the following week.

The accountability here is key…because we all have great ideas, but following through is the hard part. The pressure of a deadline always works wonders!
